Woodhurst 4 - Tudor 1 Independent Sunday League
Parmiters Sports Ground, Sunday 5th October 03
It was a game of two halves and two differing performances from the Hurst, but yet it was one that only one side ever looked like winning.
Though Woodhurst could have taken the lead on more than one occasion, it was again their opponents who opened the scoring with a hint of offside. However, the experience of Woodhurst told them to just get on with it and when they equalised ten minutes later with a goal that worked their very flag-happy linesman's arm, the youngster of Tudor failed to show the same degree of calm, and soon they were behind.
Tony Taylor, back from his holiday and making his first league appearance of the season, tucked away nicely after a foray into the box.
After the break though, the passing and movement stopped and the ball was treated as a proverbail hot-potato. But though Tudor enjoyed much of the possession, they just didn't have enough to hurt the home side, who looked dangerous whenever they advanced. On one occasion Souleyman cut in from the left to drive low in to the corner for 3-1 and Jimmy Woodham's penalty after a foul on Taylor made it four, and really frustrated the vocal efforts of the Tudor management and made the linesman's attempts at 'gamesmanship' very wasted indeed.
The Hurst roll on, but once more, injuries to Hughes and Alexander saw the pair limp out of the game.
