Woodhurst 2 - Redcliffe Rovers 1
Independent Sunday League

Parmiters Sports Ground, Sunday 6th October 02

A disappointing performance at Parmiters gave Woodhurst some sole searching, even though the team picked up maximum points

A promising start got even better on 4 minutes when a speculative Simon Probert cross fox the Redcliffe 'keeper and snuggled nicely in the net. But the game was soon to turn ugly as pass after pass went astray and the game was never killed off.

Though doing most of the running, the home side began to take the frustrations out on one and other when the moves broke down. A few nice balls played into the box, but there was all too often an offside flag raised.

It wasn't until midway through the second half when the lead was extended. Another good right hand cross from Leevan Rogers aimed towards Damion Spriggs was too tempting for the Redcliffe centre-back who beat the Woodhurst man to the ball and sent it in to his own goal for the Hurst's second OG in as many games.

Redcliffe did manage a late consolation when the right winger broke free into the Woodhurst half, before carrying the ball goalward and firing in from an acute angle.

The performance is one that will likely be forgotten, but the three points will not as the Hurst look to extend their run next week with a tricky match at home to Essex Minors. Jamie Bradbury too will not relish another opportunity like today, the injured striker standing in for the man in the middle during the current referee crisis at the League.
