Woodhurst 1 - Krona 1
Independent Sunday League

Parmiters Sports Ground, Sunday 23rd March 03

A disappointing 1-1 draw in a match that should have earned three points, sent Woodhurst to the top of the league on goal difference and leave the championship in their hands.

With injuries to Nick Bashford, Tony Taylor and Jamie Bradbury and the disappearance of Leevan Rogers, Souleyman shoots for goalthe Hurst were forced to reshuffle, Wesley Sotherton also made his first appearance of the season.

With much of the possession, the home side couldn't find the net while at the other end, Andrew Norton was in inspired form in the sticks.

With the scores goalless at the break, Woodhurst came out and continued to press but without any killer instinct and found themselves a goal behind early on in the second period. A mix up between Lawley and McShea allowed the Krona striker a chance and he gobbled it up.

Fes: Scored the equaliser with a quiffA defeat was not acceptable, and Woodhurst were rewarded soon after with an equaliser. A neat interchange on the left between Souleyman and Houlton, and the ball was played into the space on the edge of the box. Sotherton was first to react and as the keeper advanced he reached to slot the ball past the number one and into the corner for a tidy finish.

From then on it was one-way traffic, but the final touch to take all three points was missing, a late shout for a penalty after Houlton was held on the floor, literally gimp-like, was denied and the points were shared.
