Woodhurst 4 - Gidea Park 2
Godbold Cup Semi-Final
Parmiters Sports Ground, Sunday 25th April 04

In a repeat scoreline of the first game of the season, Woodhurst comfortably saw off Gidea Park Rangers in their second semi-final clash of the season to reach the Godbold Cup final and keep alive their treble hopes.

The young visitors are always difficult to predict and having been the only side to take points off the Hurst this season, and of course knock them out at the same stage of the Godbold last year, Woodhurst need to be alert from the off. Three weeks with no game obviously did the world of good for Roy Lawley's champions who were in control of the game as early as the fifth minute. Jamie Bradbury powered into space on the right and pick out a dangerous delivery from his armoury right to Nigel Jordon who made no mistake with his head.

The lead was extended further when Jordon made it two, this time collecting a lovely long through-pass from Jan Souleyman and tuck wonderfully beyond the advancing keeper.

Gidea park had a moment to celebrate shortly after when a corner was directed past Tom Gray, but Woodhurst responded well and their two goal cushion was restored.

A chest high ball towards Bradbury on the edge of the box looked difficult for the Number 9, under pressure from the defender, but despite the over-friendly advances he created enough space to send a sublime volley looping over the head of the goalie, much to the delight of the home bench.

After the break, Woodhurst eased off, and though they could and should have had more than just the one second half goal, the thoughts of next week's Williams Trophy final brought about an air of casuality. Bradbury made it four-one when Jenssen Clifford and Kofi Owusu combined to work the ball toward the visitors box. As Clifford went for the over lap outside, Bradbury found the space open up before him and from the edge of the area tucked the ball home.

Gidea grabbed their second shortly after, but even though Woodhurst didn't put the game to bed as early as they may have, it was always to late for the young lads from Romford.
