Woodhurst 8 - Drofmor 0
Williams Trophy Round One

Parmiters Sports Ground, Sunday 30th November 03

Arguably the best Woodhurst performance of the season ended in what can only be described as an 8-0 drubbing over League rivals Drofmor at Parmiters.

The Romford outfit have been somewhat of a bogey side in the past, their hardworking spirit has always tested the Hurst and their last visit to Nelson Road ended in a 6-2 victory which put a death nail in Woodhurst championship crudentials last year.

However, on that day Woodhurst were a depleted team, today it was different. Despite almost a Woodhurst who's who not in the starting XI - Fullerton and Hughes away, Mark McShea, Bradbury and Gray on the bench and Woodham and Lawley spectating - The home side treated the season's biggest support to a display of neat, one and two touch football combined with some wonderful finishing.

All over the park Woodhurst dominated, with Ladbury and Souleyman impressive on either wing. Probert, playing in the unfamiliar holding role in midfield, looked a regular alongside Paul McShea who was in awesome form and bagged a brace of goals.

At the back, Bashford, Alexander, Taylor and Clifford kept the Drofmor forwards deep inside their pockets. Norton returned in goal and looked confident, while up front, Sheppard and Jordon rarely gave the vistors respite. In fact it was them that gave Woodhurst a 2-0 lead at the break.

In recent games it has been at this stage that Woodhurst have fallen asleep, but not this morning as wave after wave of attack kept coming as the Hurst looked to win it by a cricket score. Jordon reached a hat-trick, then added a fourth for luck, meanwhile Paul McShea went in search for his own treble, but had to make do with just the two with his brother Mark, on as a first half sub for the injured Clifford, rounding off the tally with a sweet strike into the corner of the keeper's net.

Spirits were high as all subs managed to get a run out and Woodhurst progressed to round two in emphatic style
