Woodhurst 5 - Aldwelli Wanderers 0 Essex Sunday Junior Cup - Round Two
Parmiters, Sunday 3rd November 02
A return to action for three vital players saw a return to winning ways as the Hurst cruised to a comfortable
five-nil win against a handy, if ageing, Forest & District side in a match delayed after the Woodhurst kit delayed on the M25.
Roy Lawley returned to the heart of midfield and put in a superb performance. And the goals began early as Woodhurst started to look a little like the treble winners once more.
Jimmy Woodham opening the scoring after only five minutes, though the goalkeeper's handling could be questioned, Then the strike duo of Leevan Rogers and Damion Spriggs added their own
touches to the scoreline with the second and third. Ryan Houlton, who also had a great performance making his first appearance for a month, tapped in from close-range when Rogers vicious strike hit a post.
Four-nil at half time and Woodhurst were cruising and after the break took their foot off the gas as a consequence.
Tony Taylor then made it five on 55 minutes. Lawley's spin on the halfway line allowed him to find the run of Bradbury and Taylor from deep bearing down on the keeper.
The Tank was not giving this one up and carried the ball into the box holding off a challenge from and Aldwelli defender and unleased and awesome finish from 15 yards
that gave the keeper not chance and almost broke the net.
The win, and the way it was acheived, was just what was needed after the previous two matches had seen Woodhurst with only ten-men
And to top the day off beautifully, Leevan looked like Eric 'the Eel' in the shower for a different reason than usual with his new Speedo swimming cap.
