Sidarie 3 - Woodhurst 2
Essex Sunday Junior Cup - Round Four

Central Park, Dagenham, Sunday 8th December 02

Though yet another late arrival, Woodhurst started much the stronger side, and when Roy Lawley opened the scoring, the hurst settled even more. However, just a lack of concentration let in Sidarie who equalised shortly after.

Normal service was resumed minutes later when Lawley, Bradbury and Spriggs were quickest to react to a goalkeeper's parry from a Ryan Houlton finish and it was Spriggs who provided the final touch to give Woodhurst the lead again.

But a mistake at the back allowed Sidarie to equalise again with just seconds to go in the half.

After the restart the visitors to control and it looked only a matter of time before they found more goals. But though they had much of the attacking play, the final ball was lacking and they found it hard to break down the resolute Sidarie rear-guard.

A good piece of play by the home side was rewarded with their third, and the winner, midway through the half and from then on they were able to concentrate on defending.

With 9 minutes to go, the otherwise faultless referee made a huge blunder showing Jason Fullerton the red card for a professional foul, even though the fruit and veg man made a strong tidy challenge playing the ball cleanly.

But the bottomline is, the Hurst are out of the Essex cup.
